Quotes

“People pleasing is often a trauma response. It's what we've done in the family system to stay safe, to stay lovable, to not be abandoned. And you and I are both Arab. A lot of Arab cultures are collective cultures, right? Collective culture and codependent culture can sit side by side because oftentimes, we are told to defer to our elders or it's really patriarchal. So we're taught oftentimes to abandon ourselves or to put others first. There's this big, huge reclamation that's happening for you that's saying, no more.”

“87% of women actually ascribe genius, brilliance, ambition to men, and think of it as a male trait.”

“What I'm hearing is breaking the cultural stereotypes in design. And you know how big that is? There are stereotypes everywhere in design. You get out on stage or on Instagram, and you talk about that, your books will be full.”
